We profile two tech startups that are using technology to solve very different problems.
Bounce:urban mobility solutions
As a technology-focused startup, Bounce is a smart dock-less urban mobility solutions player. “By combining both hardware and software to address real-time issues and leveraging new-age technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), we are able to provide seamless first- and last-mile connectivity,” says Vivekananda H.R., CEO and co-Founder, Bounce.
Bounce aims to help decongest roads by encouraging commuters to opt for public and shared transport.
Currently, the dock-less offer is available in Bengaluru, while the docked offering can be accessed across 12 cities in India.“Our patented keyless technology gives us the competitive edge to remain dock-less, thereby allowing users to pick up/drop the bikes or cycles anywhere in the city at any time. We also use GPS tagging and geo-fencing features to ensure safety, prevent misuse and avoid theft. Also, all vehicles are enabled with sensors,” adds Vivekananda.
Bounce has clocked about 1.5 million rides in 6 months and has 8,000 scooters, of which 4,000 are dock-less. Future plans include taking the dock-less model to smaller towns and increasing its electric vehicle fleet.
SkillBox: platform for artists
Gurugram-based SkillBox is an art social network platform that helps connect artists with businesses and fans using technology. While artists can showcase their profiles, gain visibility and monetize their work, businesses can discover artists. Enthusiasts can discover their favourite artists, see their work and buy tickets to live gigs with no subscription requirements.
“We are leveraging all the leading technology tools like blockchain, AI and ML to make the platform more efficient .The daily influx of users on SkillBox generates an enormous amount of rich data which is mined to create a Recommendation Engine for songs based on user history and preferences. Additionally, we are using ML algorithms in our upcoming chat bot feature,” says Ravi Pardhi, co-founder and CTO of Skillbox. The startup is also planning to use blockchain to enable transactions between artists, fans and business.
“These are typically micro-transactions for which we have to use third-party services and have costs associated with it. To eliminate this cost, we are planning to use blockchain. As proof-of-concept, we are planning to roll out a royalty system which will leverage blockchain for tracking transactions,” explains Pardhi.
