JOHANNESBURG – Acting High Court Judge Solly Sithole says he denied Sindisiwe Manqele leave to appeal her conviction and sentence for the murder of her rapper boyfriend, Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi, because he doesn’t believe that another court will have a different outcome.
Sithole dismissed Manqele’s application in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge earlier this afternoon.
The 27-year-old former student was found guilty of killing Flabba at his home in Alexandra in March last year.

She was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Manqele showed no emotion as the judge dismissed her application.
Sithole explained that his decision is based on the fact that he doesn’t foresee another court coming to a different conclusion.
“Your application has to fail for lack of reasonable prospect of success, and no other court would come to a different conclusion on your application for leave to appeal.”
In his response to Manqele’s application, Prosecutor Paul Schutter told the court that her sentence was “shockingly reasonable” given that the court found that she foresaw that her actions could result in Habedi being killed.
Manqele begins serving her twelve year jail term today.
