If you are a boxing enthusiast, you are probably looking forward to the 3rd of December 2011, when the Boxing Super Welterweight WBA World Championship match between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito at Madison Square Garden in New York will take place.  If you have been lucky enough to obtain a ticket, the time is coming for you to arrange your travel to get to New York.

From Mexico City, there are six flights per day, lasting just over four and a half hours.  There are three airlines offering these flights:

  • Aero Mexico
  • Delta
  • Continental

The earliest flight leaves Mexico City at 1.45am and arrives in New York at 7.20am.  There is only about an hour time difference between Mexico and New York, so you have no worries about jetlag.  The last flight departs Mexico City at 5.10pm, arriving at New York for 10.45pm.

As long as you are in New York, you may as well use the opportunity to visit this city that never sleeps.  Have some apple pie on a Brooklyn street corner, visit the Statue of Liberty, have a coffee in Central Park and pretend you are an extra on the cast of Friends for example.  It truly is an absolutely amazing city, both during the day and at night, so when you are there to witness the fight, turn it into a holiday to remember for the rest of your life.

Do check if you are entitled to travel into the United States or whether you will need a visa, of course.  You should visit the consulate or Embassy of the United States in Mexico to find out whether there are any restrictions placed on people with your nationality.  If there are restrictions, follow the process to obtain a legal visa so you are still able to see the fight. Else watch live boxing online or on TV to fitness this fight.
